1.0 Position Summary
1.1 Position: Communication Officer 1.2 Department/Project: Balochistan Rural Development and Community Empowerment Programme (BRDCEP) 1.3 Category/Grade: P2 1.4 Duty Station: Islamabad with frequent travel to the programme areas in rural Balochistan 1.5 Reporting to: Programme Manager, RSPN-BRDCEP
2.0 Job Responsibilities 1 Lead the development and implementation of a communication and advocacy strategy for the BRDCEP programme 2 Liaise with all BRDCEP partner RSPs and other stakeholders to ensure that their work is being highlighted through RSPN’s external communication; 3 Lead the development of a dedicated website for the BRDCEP programme 4 Review the BRDCEP website on a regular basis and provide content development support for website updating and ensure consistency of the material; 5 Regularly update and highlight BRDCEP programme activities on social media e.g Facebook; 6 Liaise with the media to undertake media advocacy and optimize media coverage for BRDCEP programme; write and circulate press releases where appropriate; 7 Undertake field visits to the BRDCEP programme sites for documenting BRDCEP stories and providing communication support; 8 Ensure that the BRDCEP programme publications and videos are of high quality and are disseminated appropriately; 9 Coordinate the development of publications - hardcopy and/or web-based, and provide quality control in line with the RSPN standards; 10 Support the Programme Manager in organising BRDCEP programme communication and dissemination events; 11 Ensure that publications like case studies, programme updates, occasional papers, newsletters etc. are printed, and updated in a timely and consistent manner; 12 Maintain a stock of high quality photographs which reflect the work of BRDCEP programme activities; 13 Provide input to BRDCEP partner RSPs on communications material and strategies; 14 Perform any other task assigned by the Supervisor. 3.0 Required Qualifications, Skill and Experience
2.1 Education: Master’s degree in Communications, Social Sciences, Development Studies or relevant field from a recognized university. 2.2 Skills: Solid understanding of development issues; ability to speak and write English effectively; project a professional image consistent with the organisation’s brand and standards; and demonstrate experience in designing and implementing communication and/or media outreach plans in support of overall organisational goals. 2.3 Experience: Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in communications field in development sector.
