1.0 Position Summary
1.1 Position: Research Coordinator 1.2 Department/Project: Balochistan Rural Development and Community Empowerment Programme (BRDCEP) 1.3 Category/Grade: M4 1.4 Duty Station: Islamabad with frequent travel to the programme areas in rural Balochistan districts 1.5 Reporting to: Programme Manager, RSPN-BRDCEP
2.0 Job Responsibilities
Research Coordinator will be responsible for designing the research methodology, development of the data collection tools and will lead the research component of programme and manage data collection, analysis and report writing with the technical assistance from RSPN’s Specialist M&E, Team Leader Research SUCCESS Programme and International Technical Advisor. 1. Manage and lead the research component of the Balochistan Rural Development and Community Empowerment Programme (BRDCEP). This component includes one action research on poverty dynamics and 4 thematic studies over a period of five years.
2. Maintain close liaison, cooperate and seek technical assistance from the Specialist M&E, Research Team Leader (SUCCESS Programme) and International Technical Advisor on research component of BRDCE Programme
3. Prepare, implement and report against quarterly and annual work plans
4. Develop research concept notes, theoretical framework, methodology on household poverty dynamics and issues relevant to the BRDCEP programme interventions.
5. Undertake the desk reviews of the EU-funded SUCCESS Programme research component and similar natures of the research projects and compile the basic information about best practices.
6. Coordinate with National and International Universities to engage students/interns for collaborative research on topics of mutual interest to RSPN/RSPs under the BRDCE Programme.
7. Lead and build the capacity of field researcher towards achievement of research outputs and outcomes.
8. Undertake field visits to the research sites to ensure the quality assurance in data collection and adherence to ethical consideration.
9. Lead data analysis, and writing the research reports.
10. Publish research papers in international and national journal of repute.
11. Develop and implement an effective research dissemination strategy with assistance from the Communication Officer and programme management of BRDCE and SUCCESS Programmes.
12. Document lessons from the research work and provide technical assistance to RSPN and RSPs in incorporating lessons in the programme.
13. Any other tasks assigned by the Supervisor.
3.0 Required Qualifications, Skill and Experience
2.1. Education: Masters or higher degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Economics, Research or other relevant disciplines from a recognised university.
2.2 Knowledge and Skills: - Knowledge and understanding of poverty dynamics and rural development issues in Pakistan. - Skills in development of quantitative and qualitative research tools and techniques, expertise on latest data analysis and statistical soft-wares, research protocols and training of research staff. - Skills in data analysis (qualitative and quantitative) and writing research papers and briefs.

- Skills in managing research dissemination. - Excellent reading, speaking and writing skills in English. - Computer proficient, organised, detail oriented, self-motivated, team player and able to work with minimum supervision. 2.3 Experience: - Minimum of 3-4 years of experience of research with particular focus on issues related to poverty, livelihoods, community driven local development or other relevant field. - Experience of designing, managing and conducting research. - Must have research publications in national and international journals of repute.
